About the TCG TCGs - What Are They?
TCGs (Trading Card Games) are basically likes what they're called. You aim to trade cards with other people. On most offline TCGs (Magic The Gathering, Yu-Gi-Oh!, etc...), you have a special game to play, and you trade cards to strenghten your deck and become "the best". Well, online TCGs are more on collecting than being the best, although online TCGs have wider themes and can have "special games" of their own. You aim to collect certain decks, and you trade and earn cards to get the cards that you need to complete your deck.
Purpose - Why Make Silence?
I made Silence to go through with most of my ideas for TCGs. Making a new long-term TCG for every idea I have would be suicidal. So, making a TCG that has a round for each idea I have would allow me to use my ideas without actually having to make a bunch of TCgs, then maintain or close them.
Changes By Round - Why have the About the Round page?
Certain aspects in most About pages change for each subject I have. This is basically a list of what you'll find in the About the Round section. While this page will rarely ever change, anytime I start a new round, each part of the About the Round page will have to change to fit it.
The sections on the AtR page are: - Aim: What you have to do to beat the round. - Cards: The types of cards, the card worth, etc. - Rewards: Rewards for Mastering decks and Leveling up. - Levels: The different levels, and how to reach them. - Starter Pack: What you are given when you join. - Tokens: Sometimes we'll have tokens, sometimes we won't. - Special Games: Sometimes, the aim won't be to master all of the decks, but to complete a special game, or even to do both. Earning Cards - How do I get more cards?
Although the specifics change for each subject, the general way of earning cards don't really change.
- Games: You can earn most of your cards by playing the weekly, biweekly, and ongoing games. - Special Games: If the TCG has a special game to play, you will definately earn cards for doing specific things. - Contests: We may have some contests, depending on the subject and how I feel. If we do, rewards are pretty generous, compared to games. - Monthly BirthDAY: Since we have different rounds, having birthmonth rewards doesn't seem fair. So, here, you'll get cards on your day for each month. Ex: your birthday is October 6th, but the month is May. On May 6th, you'll be emailed your birthDAY reward. If the round continues into June, on June 6th, you'll recieve another birthDAY reward. - Mastering Decks: Deck masteries are like checkpoints, especially when the TCG's aim is for the masteries. You will receive a round-set reward for mastering decks. - Leveling Up: Leveling up will be rare, but will have decent-sized prizes. Be sure to check the About the Round page to see the prerequisites for leveling up. TCG Posts - How should they be?
Your TCG post is, of course, where all of your cards go. It has to be an open website. No Friends Only Livejournals, Private Myspaces or anything. Any member should be able to see it. It must have all of the following:
* A link (text or button/banner) to Silence * A detailed log of the cards you earn, how you earned them, and what you trade/receive, and who you traded with. * An easy-to-find form or explanation on how to contact and/or trade with you. * If you have had to make logs without updating your page, (ex: you log a trade, but end up not having time to put the cards up or take them down), make a Page Last Updated note on the top of the page, or something. * A badge showing your level. * A Card and Card Worth count. * Any tokens or items you may have. Trading - How should I do it?
While trading definitely won't be the main source (or probably any source) of earning cards, it'll probably be the main source of mastering decks. You offer a trade to someone - card that they probably want or need for a card that you want/need. They must be of the same worth, but not the same number. For example, if normal cards are worth 1, and special cards are worth 2, and you want someone's special card, you can offer them another special card, or two normal cards.
Remember: You MUST take down your old card(s) after trading it away. |
